IPng -- Internet Protocol: The Next Generation

IPv4 (existing Internet Protocol) is running out of network addresses

IPng is proposed new Internet Protocol to replace IPv4

Formal name for IPng will be IPv6

IPng address size increases from 32 bits to 128 bits

Allows for more levels of hierarchy and greater number of addressable nodes

IPng will provide security -- authentication and confidentiality
