SLIP/PPP Access

Serial Line Interface Protocol (SLIP) and Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) run TCP/IP over telephone line

When connected via SLIP (or PPP) connected computer has IP address and becomes Internet host (temporarily). Can run software (including Web browsers) that only run on Internet nodes.
