Configure Netscape mail to read/send mail??

For email purposes, you will be receiving accounts on a CS machine called outreach.cs.purdue.edu. You will only be able to use this machine for email; for all other Unix work we will use the PUCC account on mentor.cc.purdue.edu.

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to configure your Netscape mail program to read/send email.

  1. Select the Mail and News Preferences item from the Option menu
  2. Select the Servers tab
  3. Fill in outreach.cs.purdue.edu in the Outgoing mail box
  4. Fill in outreach.cs.purdue.edu in the Incoming mail box
  5. Fill in ONLY your login in the User Name box
  6. Click on the Identity tab and enter the Your Name, Your Email, and Reply-to Address fields
  7. Click on the OK button
  8. That's it! Select Netscape Mail item from the Window menu!
Unfortunately, due to the configuration of the PCs in LAEB B286, you may have to do this each time you come in .. the machines restore the original configuration when you log out! ARGH.
