In June 1997, Robert Reid left Lima, Peru to return to England after half a century in South America. He flew first to New York City, and from there out to Indiana to visit me for several days. Here are two photos taken during his visit. The one with my wife Susanne is in front of the main administration building (Hovde Hall) on the campus of Purdue university. The one with me is in front of the fountain in the Purdue Mall.
Robert was not in good health, and was returning to England to avail himself of the guaranteed coverage under British health care. I received a letter from him in early July before he departed from New York. Since then I had heard nothing ... until.
