Windows NT and UNIX Interoperability Training

Sponsored by Microsoft Research

Course Overview

This five-day course (with hands-on labs) was designed specifically for TE2000 grant recipient’s that wish to apply their UNIX knowledge when exploring Windows NT. The course titled Windows NT® and UNIX® Interoperability is a valuable hands-on workshop that will give the grant recipient practice setting up and managing interoperability between UNIX and Windows NT.  You will learn how to take advantage of the best of each of these operating systems and to choose the most appropriate ways to make them work together. This class is not just an overview of issues; it is a powerful workshop where you will practice installing and troubleshooting typical clients and servers in a real UNIX/Windows NT mixed environment.

The result is a course that will prepare you to understand and oversee the work of staff and students that use Microsoft Windows NT.  At the conclusion of this course,  you will have a sufficient understanding of the interoperablity features of Windows NT’s operating system, services, and tools.

Who Should Attend

As a broad overview, this course is an invaluable resource for system administrators, system managers, network administrators, system integrators and all support personnel who need to integrate Windows NT and UNIX computing environments.

If you expect the use of Windows NT to grow in your department, by your students, or among your industry partners, then this course will give you the context you need to interoperate, in terms of the UNIX systems that you already understand.
