Collected Information for Year 2
of the
MSI Annual Report to NSF
See below for the
"big picture" of what needs to be submitted.
Current Status
The Report as of 3/23/01 at 21:57 includes
contributions from Arif and Ahmed.
I will be out of town next week (3/26-3/30), when the report is due.
So, Sunil has agreed to take over the
final edits and submission to Fastlane.
There are four sections:
- Project Participants
- Activities and Findings
- Publications and Products
- Contributions
Sections 1 and 3 are rather routine, if tedious, data collection steps.
I'll be following up separately with specific questions concerning people and publications that I will then incorporate into the report.
Section 2 includes an overview and a few bullet points on the *activities* of each of the three project areas:
- Multimedia Databases and Storage Management Systems
- Networking
- Security
The second part of Section 2 is a bulleted list of the *findings* of each of the three project areas.
Finally, Section 2 includes subsections on training and development opportunities and outreach activities.
Section 4 is a few paragraphs each on contributions relative to these five areas:
- the principal discipline(s) of the project
- other disciplines of science or engineering
- the development of human resources
- the physical, institutional, or information resources that form the infrastructure for research and education
- other aspects of public welfare beyond science and engineering, such as commercial technology, the economy, cost-efficient
environmental protection, or solutions to social problems.
