Dr. Steve Tolopka

Steve Tolopka is director of the Home Communications Lab at Intel in Hillsboro, Oregon. The Home Communications Lab is chartered with creating the communications infrastructure within the home that supports the "Anywhere in the Home" vision. "Anywhere in the Home" PC applications will fundamentally change the way consumers use PCs to manage their home and business lives.
Dr. Tolopka is director of the Managed Platform Lab, and is the technical owner of Intel's Wired for Management (WfM) initiative, which is establishing a new industry-wide baseline of platform manageability to lower total cost of ownership of business computing. He is responsible for the overall architecture, development of open industry specification, industry promotion to accelerate adoption, delivery of enabling building blocks to Intel business groups and the industry, and internal coordination of Intel business units and product plans with the initiative.
Since he joined Intel in 1981 Dr. Tolopka has held a variety of positions at the company, including software engineer, architect and project manager of capability-based OS development, manager of software technology development, manager of Connectivity and Applications Lab, and director of the Home Applications Lab.
