"Computer Graphics at Purdue went from modeling free-form surfaces consisting of hundreds of triangles in minutes to simulating and rendering an entire growing and illuminated forest with hundreds of millions of triangles in seconds. Each small step enabled this giant leap. Apparently, 60 years of steady progress means way more than 60× speed-up in both the complexity and quantity of shapes we can simulate and display. One can only dream of what the next 60 years will bring in Computer Graphics, but I am sure Purdue CS students will remain at the forefront."
