A culture of persistence

"Purdue's Computer Science Department has launched the careers of thousands of software engineers, scholars, and researchers. The department helped define computer science, and evolved from the early days of a tiny department focused on mathematical and scientific computing, into a the largest department on campus. Along the way the department branched into a wide a variety of areas, including systems and networking, graphics and security. In more recent years the department has followed the trend of expanding into data science and artificial intelligence. I am proud of my many contributions along the way, and look forward to the department taking major steps forward in the near future."

- Douglas Comer, distinguished professor of computer science, Purdue University
