Background

Sponsored by Intel Corporation
(with software support from Microsoft)

In August 1997, Intel Corporation, as part of their Technology for Education 2000 program, awarded an equipment grant to Purdue University worth approximately $6.2 million. The equipment, to be provided over a three year period, is to be used for a variety of projects in research and education at the West Lafayette campus. The Purdue proposal was put together by Richard J. Schwartz, Harry A. Morrison, W. Kent Fuchs, Ahmed Sameh, John A. Schneider, John M. Steele, and Ronald J. Steuterman.

Microsoft is donating Windows NT Workstation and Server, Visual Studio Professional Edition, and Office Professional for all systems, as well as reference materials to support this project.

The project is being managed at Purdue by John T. Korb.
