Tim Bell

On October 4th, the Computer Science K-12 Outreach Program will host a one-day educator workshop and presentation by author Tim Bell.

Bell is an Associate Professor in the department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. During the talk, Bell will discuss computer science education concepts covered in the book, "Computer Science Unplugged", which he co-authored.

Many of Bell's methods are unique in that he does not always require computers to teach basic technology principles. Those who attend the workshop will learn how to address issues within the computer science field even if they lack the proper technology. Bell's strategies provide an accessible way for teachers to incorporate technology standards into their daily curricula.

The workshop takes place from 9:30 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. and includes a ROCS (Reaching Out for Computer Science) student presentation, a Lawson Building tour and Bell's "CS Unplugged" talk. The talk begins at 10:00 a.m. in Lawson 1142.
