Elmagarmid Honored by CIC

Professor Ahmed Elmagarmid recently completed a one-year educational leadership training program sponsored by the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC). At a CIC Academic Leadership Program Awards luncheon on May 12th, Elmagarmid was recognized as a CIC Fellow. The program, established in 1987, focuses on cultivating effective academic administrators by recognizing their success in developing their work areas. Elmagarmid received a plaque and mug for this recognition.
Elmagarmid is a Professor of Computer Science, the Director of the Cyber Center, and the Director of the Indiana Center for Database Systems. He has been doing research and mentoring graduate students in the area of Database Systems. He has been involved in an initiative to establish the Al-Khwarizmi Institute for Computer and Information Science and Engineering in Doha, Qatar. He serves as a database industry consultant. He lectures internationally on Cyber Infrastructure, Science and Technology Policy among other topics.
