CS Professors Awarded Outstanding Paper at ACSAC

Professor Mikhail Atallah and Professor Eugene Spafford (Executive Director of CERIAS), Mohammed Almeshekah (recent PhD graduate), and Christopher Gutierrez (graduate student) were awarded the Outstanding Paper Award at the 31st Annual Computer Security Applications Conference (ACSAC).

The winning paper “ErsatzPasswords: Ending Password Cracking and Detecting Password Leakage” presents a practical scheme to improve the security of stored password hashes rendering their cracking detectable.
