CS students joined students across the nation for the Windward Code Wars– a code war hackathon like no other.
On Saturday, February 6, teams from top universities competed for eight hours to analyze a problem, write the best AI using Python, Java, OR C#, create a solution, test it against the entries of the other programming experts, then try to earn the highest score to win a prize.
Instructor Gustavo Rodriguez-Rivera enthusiastically coaches and accompanies the students, who have fun and gain invaluable experience outside of the classroom.
"I hear from everybody that it was a lot of fun – you cannot believe how creative people get when they have limited amount of time to solve a challenge like this,” Rodriguez-Rivera said.” "It was a great team experience,” he added.
Two Purdue teams won the local competition – Boilertron and Strict Semantics.
