Computer Science faculty celebrate anniversaries at Purdue

Purdue University honored over 300 faculty members for their years of service during a celebratory luncheon Dec. 3. Faculty members were celebrated for service anniversaries ranging from 10 years to a remarkable 55.
These faculty members of the Department of Computer Science were honored at the event:
- Dan Goldwasser, 10 years of service
- Tiark Rompf, 10 years of service
- Xiangxiong Zhang, 10 years of service
- Elisa Bertino, 20 years of service
- Walid G. Aref, 25 years of service
- Sonia A. Fahmy, 25 years of service
- Elisha P. Sacks, 30 years of service
- Bharat Bhargava, 40 years of service
"The years of service our faculty have dedicated to Purdue represent far more than time—they reflect a legacy of innovation, mentorship, and excellence. Each milestone honored is a testament to the impact our department continues to have on the world of computer science and the lives of our students,” remarked Petros Drineas, professor and head of the Department of Computer Science.
The luncheon also commemorated the 60th anniversary of the University Senate. The senate serves in an advisory capacity to help achieve the educational objectives of the university. It features elected members of the Purdue faculty as well as the presidents of Purdue Student Government and Purdue Graduate Student Government.
