Eugene H. Spafford, Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at Purdue University and emeritus executive director of the Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS), has been appointed to the newly formed MITRE ATT&CK® Advisory Council.

Established by MITRE, the Advisory Council brings together leaders from government, industry and academia to provide strategic guidance on the long-term sustainability, integrity and global impact of the MITRE ATT&CK program. MITRE ATT&CK is a globally accessible knowledge base of adversary tactics and techniques and serves as a widely adopted framework for threat-informed defense.

As a member of the Council, Spafford will contribute advisory guidance on strategy, methodology, quality standards and community engagement to help ensure the continued evolution and relevance of the ATT&CK framework. The Council provides advisory input only and does not govern the program.

Spafford is internationally recognized for his leadership in cybersecurity research and education. His appointment reflects Purdue’s longstanding contributions to advancing cybersecurity, strengthening digital infrastructure and preparing the next generation of security leaders.
