Dr. Gavriil Tsechpenakis' research is in Computer Vision and Computational Biomedicine. The main topics of his interest in Computer Vision are 2D/3D segmentation, tracking, unsupervised object detection, temporally dynamic visual knowledge discovery/building, and articulated/human motion. In life sciences, his primary work is in neurobiology: neurite tracing, neuronal morphology classification, Drosophila connectomics, as well as spatial prototyping and visualization of protein-protein interactions. Dr. Tsechpenakis received his PhD from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, in 2003. He is a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award and the Research Associateship of the National Academies/National Research Council.
