Education
From 1990, he was with ATR Communication Systems Research Laboratory as a research associate. He worked at the Faculty of Information Science and System Engineering, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan from 1993 to 2001 as an associate professor. Since 2001, he has been with the Dept. of Computer and Information Science, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) as an associate and full professor.
Dr. Zheng received 1991 Best Paper Award from the Information Processing Society of Japan for generating the world-first digital panoramic image (now on every phone). He also received the Excellent Paper Award from the Japan Society of Art and Science in 2000 for his development to extract human motion from video. His research areas covered computer vision, AI, autonomous driving, multimedia, virtual reality, and robotics. He is a senior member of IEEE.
