Seeking Participants for GenAI Use in Computer Science Study
Our research team from Purdue University’s Learning Design and Technology program is conducting a study to better understand how students in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, and related fields are using Generative AI tools in their academic work.
We are seeking participants aged 18 and older who are currently enrolled in a computing-related program to take part in a research study titled:
GenAI Use in Computer Science: Insider Perspectives to Inform Practice
Participants will complete a brief online survey (15-20 minutes) about their experiences using Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar platforms for coursework, projects, and learning.
To thank participants for their time:
- 55 participants will be randomly selected to receive a $10 Amazon gift card
- Estimated odds of receiving a gift card are approximately 1 in 4.5 (55 out of 250; exact odds depend on total responses)
Participants may also volunteer for an optional follow-up interview:
- The interview will last approximately 30 minutes
- Conducted remotely via Zoom
- Up to 20 participants will be selected to ensure representation across computing fields
- Selected interview participants will receive a guaranteed $10 Amazon gift card
Participation is voluntary and survey responses are anonymous. Contact information for incentives is collected separately and cannot be linked to survey responses. Interview sessions will only be recorded with participant consent.
