Undergraduate Realtime Simulation Programmer

The Purdue IT Envision Center is seeking a new undergraduate Realtime Simulation Developer with familiarity with Unreal Engine or Unity. This student will be working on building simulations and games to be deployed in web, VR, AR, mobile, and standalone systems. This will involve working with 2D/3D artists, UX and sound specialists to develop applications for research, education and outreach. This position will create opportunities to grow the student’s portfolio and provide experience in project development pipeline, client interactions, time and team management.  

The selected candidate will need to be required to work onsite at Purdue’s West Lafayette campus through the summer of 2026.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Passionate about developing real-time interactive applications 
  • Applicants must be familiar with programming in game engines (Unreal/C++ or Unity/C#) 
  • Knowledge of vector math and software design


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with VR/AR, web and mobile deployment 
  • Experience with data visualization in game engines would be highly valued

Undergraduate 3D Artist

The Purdue IT Envision Center is seeking a new undergraduate 3D artist. This student will be working on building 3D and 2D art assets to be used in animations, virtual/augmented reality simulations and interactive learning environments. This will involve 3D modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, lighting, rigging, animating, 2D texture editing and painting for environments, props and characters. The student may also be involved in staging the art assets in Unity/Unreal/Web and will work closely with simulation programmers and other artists. 

This position will create opportunities to grow the student’s portfolio and provide experience in project development pipeline, client interactions, time and team management. 

The selected candidate will need to be available to work onsite at Purdue’s West Lafayette campus through the summer of 2026.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Experience with 3D modeling, texturing, lighting and animating for real-time simulations 
  • Experience in Blender or Maya 
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Substance Painter) or equivalent texturing tools  
  • Ability to work onsite on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus through the summer of 2026

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with ZBrush and/or Houdini 
  • Knowledge of game engine integration (Unity, Unreal, Godot)
