CS Undergrad Appointed Associate Editor

Computer Science undergraduate, Shweta Gupte, has been hired as the Associate Editor for the Engineering Department of The Journal of Young Investigators (JYI). Gupte will dedicate 5 hours per week to reviewing the publication's CS and Math papers. Her advisor for the position, which began in February 2008, is Prof. Buster Dunsmore.
Gupte is a dual major junior in Mathematics and Computer Science. She began her studies at Purdue University in 2006. She was a member of the Judicial Database System EPICS team, and presented the Technical Research Poster Judicial Database System for the Grace Hopper Conference in October 2007. She is also the Promotions Coordinator of the Computer Science Women's Network, and has been appointed to mentor CS students in the Undergraduate Student Board Peer Mentoring Program. Gupte volunteered for the Science and Math Olympiad held at Purdue in 2006 as well. Gupte is currently working at the Purdue IT Infrastructure Department as a Network Security Operator and Spectrum Engineer.
The JYI is a prestigious student-run online journal of undergraduate scientific research and science writing. Students along with their faculty advisors review submissions and select which papers should be published in JYI. Selected work is determined by "the quality of research and the manner in which it is communicated."
