CS TAs Receive Nods from CETA

The Committee for the Education of Teaching Assistants (CETA) honored graduate student teachers campus wide on Thursday, April 17. During this celebration, three CS graduate students were honored. Vasil Stefanov Denchev and Chris (Yu Tak) Ma were 2008 Graduate Student Honorees. Hicham Elmongui, who is a previous honoree, received a 2008 Graduate Teacher Certificate.
Denchev is a second year PhD student and teaching assistant. His research area is quantum computing and distributed network algorithms. His PhD advisor is Prof. Gopal Pandurangan.
Ma is a PhD student and teaching assistant. His research interests include wireless and sensor networks, peer-to-peer systems, quality of service, and network security. His academic advisor is Prof. David Yau.
Elmongui is a PhD candidate and research assistant. His research area is database systems with a focus on spatio-temporal query optimization. His PhD advisor is Prof. Walid Aref. Elmongui was also a 2008 College of Science nominee for the university-wide Graduate School Excellence in Teaching Award.
