Insights magazine, the flagship publication of the Purdue College of Science, features two major stories about the Department of Computer Science in its Fall 2012 edition. View the full content of this edition (PDF).
The article "Many Prospectives, One Vision" (by Linda Thomas Terhune) features profiles of Computer Science students Brittany Vacchiano (a sophomore CS major from Chicago, Illinois) and Nadya Ortiz (a CS master's candidate from Ibague, Colombia) alongside other CoS students who represent various perspectives of the College's "diverse scientific community." (The article begins on page 6; Vacchiano and Ortiz are profiled on pages 14 and 15.)
The Fall 2012 edition of Insights also features a timeline of 50 years' worth of Purdue Computer Science, in celebration of the Department's 50th Anniversary. Purdue University's Department of Computer Science was founded in October 1962, the first of its kind in the nation. The timeline can be viewed on pages 22 to 23, and the inside of the magazine's front cover features another version of the same - in binary code!
The 2012 Class Notes section (pages 30 to 32) also features news from a variety of CS alumni.
Insights magazine is produced semiannually and is sent to alumni, friends, faculty, and staff of the College of Science. It covers the College's endeavors in discovery, learning, and engagement.
