Invite to Participate in a Data Cleaning Tool User Study

We're conducting a user study to evaluate the usability of a data cleaning tool. This tool eliminates the need for users to write data cleaning scripts. Instead, users simply demonstrate which content to clean from a table, and the Programming by Demonstration (PBD) tool automatically synthesizes a script for them. Our study aims to inform the design of next-generation data cleaning tools. Would you like to participate? The study will take approximately 60 minutes, and you'll receive a $25 Amazon gift card as compensation for your time.

This study has been approved by Purdue IRB. The official study title is "Evaluating the Usability of Data Cleaning Tools using Large Language Model", and the IRB protocol number is IRB-2024-871.

--A bit more about this study--

The user study will take place in person. You will be asked to complete five data cleaning tasks using this tool. The tool is deployed in our computer so you don't have to install anything.

--Eligibility--

You need to be fluent in English and over 18 years of age. We will ask a few questions about your programming experience, in order for us to invite a balanced pool of participants into our study. If you are selected, we will reach out to schedule a study.
