Research Project for Graphics Interested Undergrads

I am an assistant professor joint between Biological Sciences and Chemistry.  My group specializes in three-dimensional imaging (cryo-electron tomography) and detailed analyses using those data.  My group is highly interdisciplinary, and all undergraduates work on computational projects.

I have a project that would be particularly well-suited for a CS major interested in graphics.  Briefly, this project involves taking three-dimensional positions and orientations of particles, rendering them as a shape, and plotting them in space with the ability to rotate, slice, render certain attributes differently, etc.  We have some old javascript code (using three.js) to use as a base; the student would first update and verison-control that code, then work on new developments that could follow their own interests.

Any interested students can take a look at our webpage (www.science.purdue.edu/metskaslab) and reach out to attend a lab meeting.
